Linen is a fabric shade rather than a glass one, and the difference shows in the quality of the light. Woven cloth scatters the output across its whole surface rather than transmitting it cleanly, so the glow is genuinely soft-edged and the shade itself has a visible texture that catches the eye at close range.
Aged bronze beneath it supplies the weight. A bright metal against natural linen would read as two unrelated ideas; bronze that has been darkened sits closer to the fabric in tone and the pair looks considered rather than assembled. That combination is what lets the fitting work in a traditional room as readily as a contemporary one.
It takes a standard E14 bulb, so the character of the light is a choice rather than fixed, and at roughly 24cm high by 24cm wide it stays compact enough for a hallway or a stairwell. Keep the linen dry and dust it with a soft brush rather than a damp cloth, avoid abrasives on the bronze, and have it installed by a qualified electrician. Mount it at roughly seated shoulder height so the linen texture is read at close range rather than in silhouette from below. A warm bulb suits both materials, since a cool one turns natural linen grey and flattens the bronze.
