Crystal against black iron is a deliberate collision of two opposite materials, and it works because each makes the other more obvious. The dark metal absorbs light and gives the eye nothing, so the faceted panels beside it look brighter than they would against a pale frame, and the contrast keeps the piece modern rather than traditional.
The panels are precision cut, which is what produces a scattered shimmer across the wall instead of a single flat wash. On a hallway wall that effect changes as you walk past it, giving a corridor some movement it would not otherwise have. Four finish options are offered across the range, and each takes a single standard E27 or E26 bulb.
Because the bulb is standard rather than integrated, the character of the light is yours to choose: a warm filament for a soft glow, or a brighter LED for more sparkle. Iron gives the base enough weight to sit flat and stable on the wall. Dust the crystal with a dry microfibre cloth, keep sprays off the iron, and have it installed by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated.
