A traditional lamp shape without the cable is a more useful combination than it sounds. Touch control handles both power and dimming, so there is no switch on a cord to find in the dark and no fixed brightness to live with. Turned up it works as a reading light; turned right down it becomes the sort of low warm glow that used to require candles, and the range between the two is continuous rather than stepped through presets. The 18650 lithium cell inside is a standard, well-proven format rather than a proprietary pack, and the brushed finish resists fingerprints better than polished brass would. Charge it fully before first use and avoid leaving it permanently on charge. Run a soft brush over the fabric shade occasionally and wipe the metal base with a dry cloth rather than a damp one.
