The Morandi palette takes its name from a painter who spent a career on muted greys, ochres and dusty pinks, and the reason those colours work on a light fitting is the same reason they worked on his canvases: they sit beside almost anything without competing with it. A pendant in one of those tones reads as part of the room rather than an object placed into it.
The shade is a smooth dome with a frosted glass diffuser inside it, which is what turns a bare bulb into an even wash of warm light. Frosting matters more on a pendant than most people expect, since a dining pendant hangs close to eye level and an unfrosted one puts a bright filament directly in the line of sight of everyone sitting at the table.
Metal and glass make up the whole fitting, so there is nothing to discolour or sag over time, and five colour options cover most schemes. Hang it roughly seventy to eighty centimetres above a table so it lights the surface without blocking the view across it. Wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth, avoid abrasives on the painted metal, and have it installed by a qualified electrician.
