The shade comes in several colours against the pale timber, which is the only decoration the lamp has. Light output depends on the bulb you fit, and the E27 socket accepts white, neutral or warm sources; neutral suits a desk during the day, warm suits a bedside in the evening. Choose the shade colour to match the room rather than the desk.
Solid wood gives it enough weight to stay put when the head is adjusted, which is where cheaper lamps fail. The bulb is not included. Keep the shade clear of paper while lit, wipe the timber with a dry cloth rather than a wet one, avoid standing water on the wooden base, and let the bulb cool before changing it.
