A cone is the most efficient shade shape there is: it gathers light from the source and directs it downward in a clean circle with almost nothing wasted sideways. Cut from natural timber rather than metal, that efficiency comes with warmth, because the wood glows slightly at its lower edge and reflects a softer tone back into the room than painted steel ever manages.
It is compact, which is a deliberate decision rather than a limitation. Smaller rooms, reading nooks, hallways and bedside areas are exactly where an oversized fitting looks wrong, and a smaller cone gives a defined pool of light rather than a general wash. In a bedroom it works over a bedside table; in a hallway a run of them at even spacing reads deliberately. Two finishes are offered, so the timber can be matched to the furniture below.
Timber grain differs between pieces, so the lamp you receive will not be identical to the photograph, which is normal for a natural material. Keep it away from steam and prolonged damp so the wood holds its finish, and dust it with a dry cloth rather than a wet one. Installation is hardwired, so a qualified electrician should fit it with the circuit isolated. A warm bulb suits the timber better than a cool white one does.
