Solid timber and handwoven rattan in the same fitting gives you two natural textures working against each other: the wood is smooth and structural, the rattan is irregular and open. Light passing through the weave lands on the surrounding wall as a soft pattern rather than a flat wash, which is the effect that makes woven shades worth choosing over moulded ones.
It is semi-embedded, sitting closer to the wall than most sconces, which makes it practical in a hallway or beside a bed where a projecting fitting gets knocked. The warm diffused output suits ambient and accent use rather than reading, and it belongs in rooms that already lean natural: coastal, bohemian, Japandi or plain Scandinavian interiors with visible timber elsewhere. Every woven shade differs a little, which is the nature of handwork.
It takes a standard E26 or E27 bulb, so brightness and warmth are yours to set, and a warm low-wattage bulb suits the material best. Natural fibre dislikes humidity, so keep it out of bathrooms and unventilated laundries, and dust it with a soft brush rather than a cloth, which snags on the weave. Installation is hardwired, so use a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated.
