Raw cement and metal in a slim cylinder with a perforated mesh shade: the Urban Concrete Pendant does not try to hide what it is made of, which is the point of an industrial fitting. Light escapes through the perforations as well as the open bottom, so it throws a pattern onto nearby surfaces alongside its downward pool of light.
Concrete gives it weight and a surface that varies slightly between pieces, since cement never cures perfectly uniformly. That variation is what stops a mass-produced fitting from looking mass-produced. Model A is a narrow 6 centimetre by 35 centimetre cylinder; larger models suit a dining table or an island where a slim pendant would look lost. A cluster of three at staggered heights suits a high ceiling or a stairwell particularly well.
It works particularly well with a visible Edison-style bulb, where the filament shows through the mesh, though a warm LED gives much the same effect with less heat. Because concrete is heavy for its size, use a ceiling fixing rated for the load. Have it wired in by a qualified electrician, and dust the surface with a dry brush rather than a wet cloth. Cement can mark, so avoid detergents and let any splashes dry rather than rubbing at them.
