A matte black iron dome with a gold interior: the outside disappears against a ceiling and the inside bounces the light back warm rather than white. That contrast is the entire trick of this fitting, and it is why an industrial shape that could easily read as cold ends up feeling cosy over a kitchen bench or a dining table instead.
The cord extends up to 200 centimetres, which covers a high ceiling, a stairwell or a bench that needs the shade brought low. A single dome suits a small table; three in a row at even height is the standard arrangement over an island, and because the shade is opaque the light stays directed downward rather than spilling across the room.
The shade is cast iron, so it is heavier than a spun steel equivalent and needs a proper ceiling fixing rather than a plasterboard anchor alone. It takes an E26 bulb, not included, on 110 to 240 volts, and a warm filament-style bulb suits the gold interior best. Installation is hardwired and belongs to a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated at the board. Dust the outside with a dry cloth and let the bulb cool completely before changing it, since an iron shade holds heat longer than glass does.
