Wabi-sabi is the idea that a thing is more interesting for being imperfect, and this pendant takes it literally: a smooth resin form with slightly irregular contours, finished in soft white or an earthy orange, hung from a single cord. There is no symmetry to admire and no polish to keep up, which is the point of it. The orange in particular changes with the light through the day.
Light comes from an E27 bulb, included, and the resin body diffuses it into a warm, low-contrast glow that suits a bedside, a dining table or a corner of a workspace where hard light would be wrong. At 18 centimetres high and 12.5 wide it is small enough to hang in a pair or a run of three without crowding a room.
The cord is adjustable to 150 centimetres, so the drop can be set for the ceiling and the furniture below. Resin is light and durable, and it cleans with a dry cloth. The fitting runs on 110 to 240 volts and is hardwired, so installation belongs to a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated at the board. Let the bulb cool before changing it. It suits Japanese, minimalist and modern interiors equally well.
