Wabi-sabi is often reduced to a look, but the idea underneath it is that a natural material should show what it is. Stone here is left with its texture intact rather than polished smooth, so the base carries marks and variations that no two pieces share, and the fitting is a slightly different object each time one is made.
A wooden overlay runs across the stone, and the join between the two is the detail worth noticing. Timber is warm and worked; stone is cool and found. Setting them against each other is what gives the piece its balance, and it is why neither material needed decoration added to it. Two finishes are offered across the range.
A frosted glass sphere holds a G9 bulb, small enough to keep the light source discreet while still throwing a warm diffused glow across the wall. It suits bedrooms, hallways and quiet living spaces. Dust both materials with a dry cloth, keep liquids off the porous stone since marks can be permanent, and have it installed by a qualified electrician. Because the stone is found rather than made, the piece you receive will differ visibly from the photograph, which is the point rather than a fault. Mount it where the texture catches some daylight as well as its own glow, so both surfaces are readable.
